« on: May 30, 2016, 06:48:42 AM »
Hello everyone,

N25U got a new panel. Now it's 75 years old and still a fascinating aircraft.

Hi,
I used the cold month here to rebuild the instrument panel of N24R. The old one had a couple of unused cutouts and scratches and didn’t look very nice any more. Furthermore I decided to switch back from an electric tachometer to a mechanical one. Due to the self made arrangement of the instruments in the old panel the mechanical one didn’t fit. I tried to make it as original as possible, but of course I had to make some more cutouts than the original panel came with. The “extras” are for the voltmeter, the CHT indicator (I really appreciate to have one), the manifold pressure, the small compass and the ones for COM and XPDR.
I also reupholstered the dashboard. The old crumbly carpet was replaced by synthetic leather.
If anybody is looking for a suitable COM or XPDR I can recommend the Trig TY91 and TT21. They both have a small remote control unit that easily fits the Culver panel. The real radio/XPDR unit is mounted under the seat back in the baggage compartment.
