Horizontal Stabilizer Strut
« on: July 01, 2014, 10:09:09 PM »
I have noticed that some Culver Cadets have horizontal stabilizer struts. Through what serial number were these installed? What changes, if any, were made to the stabilizer to eliminate the need for these.

I think that all of the Cadets with struts, had them added in the field.  I have checked the FAA Airworthiness file on a couple of the planes with the struts and didn't find any entries pertaining to them.

My Cadet has struts on the horizontal stabilizer, I would have to pull the logbook to give you the exact wording but I remember it being something like, "installed horizontal stabilizer supports as per work order number...."
I assumed that it was referencing another aircraft that had these struts installed but the documentation was spotty so I really don't know.  They could be easily removed but I see no reason to after all these years.

Joe,
I would be interested what year they were added.

Joe,

Unfortunately I do not have the logbook at home right now to confirm this, from the notes in my computer the braces were installed in 1970.
