Documentation / Re: Sky Ranch Engineering Manual
« on: June 21, 2012, 08:27:34 PM »
Yup I got that book about ten years back when I was working on various types of engines; Cont, Lycoming, etc. I think I bought it at Oshkosh because it looked good. Hard to find good technical books like that without going to a specific overhaul manual.  Recently I bought another book on Avionics that is good, have to look the name up though.

The photos on this site are great ! Love the factory photos especially. The color scheme on the Culver V mentioned above on the rebuild pages is awesome also(white/dark green). Seeing that rebuild page really makes me motivated to work on the V project more.

If I get a chance I will scan the original Engineering report on the Wing certification, it will make for some fun reading for people interested in the wing design !

Hello Neal,
I may  be interested in the project as I have been playing with Culvers for awhile. I have talked to you about cowlings at one point as I live in San Diego. My thoughts on this would be Kit form all the way similar to as in a Pitts special where you can buy kits in wood stock with patterns for the ribs, etc. As a kit the costs dont hit you as high immediateley.  I also have two sets of wings at home to look at.
Die-cut or Laser cut parts would be a dream but would probably be cost prohibative. We should get ahold and talk as I have a bunch of interesting Culver Documentation, other stuff that would be noce to scan and put on this Forum.

Culver General Discussion / Re: Cadet Windsheild frame

Thanks Bill ! thats exactly what I needed to know. My Culver came with a Lark conversion to Fiberglass windsheild and canopy, I am not that hot on that look and intend on converting back to Cadet form. Its all just a pile of parts anyway right now. I got some nice detailed photos of a rebuild from Poplar Grove, Ill several years back on those parts so I can probably duplicate fairly close. Reading up on square tube bending also.

Culver General Discussion / Cadet Windsheild frame
« on: January 17, 2012, 09:25:44 PM »
I am reverse engineering the windshield/cockpit frame. This is the rect. steel tube X shaped frame the doors and windsheild mount to. Does anybody have acces to measure steel tube size and thickness of the tube stock ? I am guessing 3/4 square tube from photos I have .
Also same question on door frame tubing, is it 3/4 inch. ?
Ideally I would like to find a used cockpit frame and doors if anybody has extra parts !
Thanks, ED
